Research
NICE and CCHE encourage students to be involved in research. This can range from action research projects to major theses. From time-to-time the results of research activities are published in the NICE journal, Christian Teachers Journal or as a part of a book publication.
Research Review Committee
This committee functions at the agent (i.e. NICE) level and conducts the preliminary screening and grants the initial approval for NICE student research projects.
Human Research and Ethics Committee
The Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) is a committee of the CCHE and is responsible for the review of applications for ethical clearance for all research involving humans and for the provision of advice to the College on related matters. Activities requiring CCHE HREC approval must first be screened and endorsed by the Research Review Committee of participating teaching agents before being forwarded to the HREC for consideration.
The Human Research Ethics Committee's composition, terms of reference, functions and responsibilities and method of operation conform to the requirements of the National Statement on Ethical Conduct of Research Involving Humans (2007)(Click here to view the statement), and the Commonwealth Privacy Act (1998).
Membership of the committee includes:
- The chairperson of the Academic Board of CCHE
- The principals of NICE and Southland College
- A layperson not associated with CCHE
- A legal representative
- Up to two persons co-opted from time to time and for a particular purpose and specified period, as the need arises.
