Caroline Blake bio

Mrs Caroline Blake
BSc(Hons), DipEd, MEdST, MCEPA

Caroline went to her first school, a state high school in Victoria in 1974.  In 1988 she began teaching at Swan Christian College in Perth WA, supposedly for six weeks.  Although a practising Christian for many years, the notion of an education where Christ was the centre of everything that was done was new and profoundly exciting.

Initially she taught in the Science Department in the areas of Science, Biology and Chemistry. In 1995 she moved into leadership roles and was the Deputy Principal of Swan until the conclusion of 2011. Currently she has moved to the part-time role of Operations, Risk and Compliance Manager with Swan Christian Education Association.

She completed her Master’s Degree with the National Institute for Christian Education and has developed a New Staff Induction Program that is available from the National Institute.

What Students Say

  • I found study with the Institute extremely valuable and effective in prompting changes, reflections and constructive self assessment in my teaching practices within the context of the Gospel.
  • This was an excellent course. I wish I had done it much earlier on as it lays down the foundation for understanding the history and purpose of Christian education. I would recommend it.
  • It never fails to amaze me how, as I study each Institute course, I come to certain realisations about areas of my teaching that I need to modify/change. Areas that I have been 'blind' to are highlighted through the study material and I have an opportunity to make adjustments that potentially could result in improved ways of teaching for me, and improved ways of learning for my students as I consider their learning needs to a far greater extent.
