All teaching of accredited courses is done by distance education. All unit outlines, study guides and readings are available through our online elearning portal (
Moodle).

Seminars/Intensives
As well as the accredited courses, the National Institute for Christian Education is involved in many face-to-face conferences, seminars and workshops some of which can partially fulfill requirements for units in accredited study through recognition of prior learning.

Textbooks

Students are responsible for the purchase of their own textbooks. A list of the textbooks required for a unit is found on the unit registration form and in the Unit Outlines. Since the textbook list changes periodically, it is important for students to ensure that they have the current list. It is also important to ensure that the edition, not just the title of each textbook matches the unit requirements. Textbooks can be ordered directly through the

Co-op Bookshop or purchased secondhand.

What Students Say

  • I found study with the Institute extremely valuable and effective in prompting changes, reflections and constructive self assessment in my teaching practices within the context of the Gospel.
  • This was an excellent course. I wish I had done it much earlier on as it lays down the foundation for understanding the history and purpose of Christian education. I would recommend it.
  • It never fails to amaze me how, as I study each Institute course, I come to certain realisations about areas of my teaching that I need to modify/change. Areas that I have been 'blind' to are highlighted through the study material and I have an opportunity to make adjustments that potentially could result in improved ways of teaching for me, and improved ways of learning for my students as I consider their learning needs to a far greater extent.
