What Students Say

  • I found study with NICE extremely valuable and effective in prompting changes, reflections and constructive self assessment in my teaching practices within the context of the Gospel.
  • This was an excellent course. I wish I had done it much earlier on as it lays down the foundation for understanding the history and purpose of Christian education. I would recommend it.
  • It never fails to amaze me how, as I study each NICE course, I come to certain realisations about areas of my teaching that I need to modify/change. Areas that I have been 'blind' to are highlighted through the study material and I have an opportunity to make adjustments that potentially could result in improved ways of teaching for me, and improved ways of learning for my students as I consider their learning needs to a far greater extent.

Welcome

Whether you are looking for training for yourself, or for your staff, the National Institute for Christian Education can help. Our vision is to equip schools and individuals to think biblically and critically about the educational process.

The Institute is committed to serving the kingdom by offering professional development, certificates, seminars, conferences, workshops, publications, online training and postgraduate study focusing on equiping professionals to think biblically and critically about the educational process. All professional development can be customised to suit the context of your school or association of schools.

Our two certificate courses offered are as follows:

  • Certificate of Christian Education CCE,
  • Advanced Certificate of Christian Education ACCE

Our post-graduate courses offered are as follows:

  • Bachelor of Education BEd (Conversion),
  • Graduate Diploma of Education GradDipEd,
  • Master of Education MEd,
  • Master of Education MEd (Leadership)

All postgraduate courses begin with core study in biblical foundations and worldview formation. Throughout the courses a high level of critical thought is required. The aim is to equip students to develop their own coherent educational theory and practice that is generated by a Christian worldview. In the process of their learning, the students are expected to evaluate critically all ideas and practices regardless of the source. Students will be exposed to a range of sources–Christian and otherwise. Although unashamedly biblical in our approach the programs are embedded within the academic discipline of education. NICE's Body of Knowledge statement demonstrates how a theoretical framework and scholarship are brought together in a coherent program of study.
